A quote by philanthropist Steve Maraboli says,” A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.” There are people from all circumstances in life whom on any given day, God may put on our path. It is up to us to discern how best to help. Sometimes it is as simple as a smile of acknowledgment or encouragement, and if conditions permit, just listening. Many years ago at Christmas time I was able to help a homeless woman on a blustery cold December day. My children had given me a red sweatshirt as an early Christmas present. Upon seeing this sweet woman I took my sweatshirt off and handed it to her. She quickly put it on and bowed her head in humility. No words were spoken. I have never forgotten that December day and the way it made me feel to help someone in need. Always try to help someone even if it is in the smallest way. You might be the only one who does.
