It is often true that what is most beautiful, is invisible to the human eye. The essence of beauty can be heard, touched, smelled and most of all, kept among the treasures of one’s heart. Many times those we meet in life are beautiful because of what they have endured and their beauty shines from the inside out. I have a cherished picture sitting on my writing desk of three women in Rwanda, weaving dried grass, which has been dyed to make gorgeous baskets. This picture serves to remind me every day that hard work wears a smile and is beautiful. Let us remember that beauty in it’s various forms is all around us, and many times there is a lesson to be learned, which will remain a gift forever.
