A week ago I was on the beautiful and inspirational campus of the United States Naval Academy, at Annapolis. It was an experience I will forever remember. One of the moments that has stayed with me was quite unexpected. We were given permission to enter the chapel on the grounds of the academy. The ornate interior spoke to us of history far reaching. What etched itself in my heart during that time was the song a midshipman was singing. He was practicing a song for a funeral the following day. The verses he had written were tender and reminiscent of this individual’s life, and following each verse was the sterling chorus, repeated again and again. “It’s not what we take with us, it’s what we leave behind”. Throughout the remainder of that stunning spring day, this chorus played over and over in my mind and I will strive to that end.
Have a beautiful week!
Love,
Ann
