Today is Martin Luther King Day, and a day I celebrate with all of my heart, mind and soul. In his book STRENGTH TO LOVE, parts of it composed during some very tumultuous years, he wrote in a deeply personal way of his commitment to justice. After consistently being told how this book had changed the lives of so many, his wife Coretta Scott King wrote the following. “I believe it is because this book best explains the central element of Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy of nonviolence,” and “his belief in a divine, loving presence that binds all life.” One of his timeless quotes from this book for all mankind to remember is ~ “Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that,”
In closing, may we remember today and every day simple words he has penned, “The time is always right to do what is right.”
Have a beautiful week!
Love,
Ann
