Just recently when I was out for a walk, I saw a mailbox that reminded me of my childhood. Many years ago when I was growing up, the mailbox was the only way to receive communication besides the telephone! Whether I was waiting for a letter from my grandparents and friends who lived far away, boyfriends and family who were over seas serving our beautiful country, or the excitement of college acceptance letters to name a few, I learned to watch for the “mailman” every day! My mother was so sweet and if a letter arrived for me while I was at school, she would place it on my pillow. Today, with electronic communication the wait is much easier and quicker and yet I feel, impersonal. I must say that the charm in waiting and opening a real letter I would not trade for anything. I am grateful for my memories that bring time past to life for me again.
